If someone who was put on 2 years probation for grand theft (it was a laptop, that was returned the same night, but plaintiff decided to press charges) and then fails their 1st drug test after being put on probation & was put in jail.. how long will that person be in jail?

hey i just emailed u about this: he should only get a few months. my bf violated PAROLE.

probation is not as bad as parole and my bf got 4 months and only has to serve 2.

i have my fingers crossed for u!

In Tennessee violation of probation is 30-90 days depending on the reason for the violation.

The probation officer can put them back in jail for the remainder of their time plus they will be facing new charges for drugs.

The court is free to put the person back in jail for the remainder of term not served PLUS any time for the new crime.

that's not right that they put that person in jail after the 1st drug test of beginning probation, but I would assume 30 days max

That's up to the judge, but if I were the CO, I would recommend that the person serve the full sentence since apparently, he has not learned much about obeying the law.
