i mean, what if Jesus DID choose Judas because he knew this was the spirit that needed healing/changing (in all of us): could JUDAS been chosen purposefully?

Right, he was Jesus's main man. That's why Juses picked him to turn him in. Judas loyal to the end .

In that time and culture people ate setting on cushions in groups of three with the most important of the three in the middle of the group. It has been suggested that Judas was sitting next to Jesus based on traditions of the time and the idea that their conversation over dinner was not head by others. But no one really knows for sure if it was to the right or the left, but I think right is most often suggested..

DaVinci painted Judas at one end, but with everyone one on one side of the same table. Other artists, especially before DaVinci, often painted Judas on the other side of the table, often holding a bag of coins, for symbolic reasons. But as I said, eating at table came later culturally speaking.

In religious iconography Judas appears as the one sitting several seats to the left of Jesus who (without a halo) is reaching across the table to get something (for an example see - http://www.campallen.org/Images/icon%20-%20Last%20Supper%20resized.jpg).

(and when it comes to paintings of the Last Supper my favorite is Jacopo Tintoretto's Last Supper (1592-1594), which can be seen at http://faculty.etsu.edu/kortumr/HUMT2320/northernrenaissance/htmdescriptionpages/tintoretto.htm and hanging on a wall in the church of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, Italy)
