Nationalism does not depend entirely on language. And Filipinos don't come from the same "group". Keeping their local language is a difficult task if they are to compete with English (and now Arroyo even wants Spanish back to school!).

In my opinion, languages like Tagalog, Hyligainon and Ilocano should be promoted, instead of Spanish.
English has give Filipinos a competitive advantage over their neighbors. but where would they be if they let thier original languages die?
