Yes, but it is not ideal. Be careful not to cut too far from the end. For novices, just take the sharp tip off. The biggest problem with nail clippers for people is the possibility of cracking the claw rather than cleanly snipping it off. Also, most cat nailcutters give you a better view of what you are cutting off. And since they are like scissors, you have a better grip on them.

I use a regular nailcutter all the time when cutting my cats claws. The thing to watch out for is that you don't cut too close to the quick -- the part of the nail that carries a small blood supply to each claw.
When you have the claw extended for cutting, be aware of the pinkish area near the base of the claw. Only cut the white area and you will be fine.
If you accidentally cut into the quick, don't worry. It's not a serious injury, but it will hurt the cat momentarily. If it bleeds, dab it with a stiptic pencil to stop the bleeding and it will heal nicely on its own.

The kitten's nails are exactly like your fingernails. You want just to cut the white part and stay away from the pink part (the quick -OUCH).
A kitten's nails are tough at all and you can trim them with your cuticle scissors. When the kitten is older you will like the special cat clippers which can better handle the nails are they toughen with age.

Yes, it is ok to use regular nail clippers. I do it all the time, Ive had cats all my life & thats what we've been doing. Im sure thats what people used before all the specail nail clippers came out. You just have to be careful not to cut too much.

I've had cats for over 50 years, and until recently had always used regular "people" nail clippers. You just have to be more careful, when cutting the nail with these, cause they don't have a "guard" to prevent cutting too short. Hope this helps......Good luck..........

Yes, you can cut your kitten's claws with a regular cutter. Just be careful you dont hit the actual nerver or flesh part of the kitten.

Yes, sometimes with kittens or really small puppies, human nail clippers actually work better.
