3500 sounds about right, because that is about the most the average person eats in food everyday. So, if you just drink water, make sure you take a daily vitamin, and eat a minimum of food - foods that have no fat, calories, cholesteral, sugar or salt, but that at the least keeps you so you don't become malnourished, you should start to lose weight... Fruits and vegetables and don't add the butter!!!!

looks like everyone's had their say, and it's about what I would have said. Loose at most 2-3 pounds a week. From what you say you weigh, you're in a good range. You might have some problem areas, which you may look into toning.

BIG TIPS from a GUY:
1. Most guys like a little more than skin and bones.
2. You are not fat, you have nice padding.
3. Guys look at women who have something to look at, not those with nothing to them.
4. Kinda hard to have any fun with nothing at all.

you should burn more calories than you eat. 500 to be exact, and if you burn 500 a day to come out to 3500 a week you will lose 1 lb. or at least you should.

you are already skinny. if you take 9 more pounds off thats going to set you BMI to underweight and put you at risk for health problems. besides its not healthy losing that many pounds in that short of time, healthy weight loss is 1 maybe 2 pounds a month.

Why do you want to be a bean pole? You are already too skinny for your height. But if you insist on being unhealthily thin, burning 3500 calories = 1 lb.

Approximately 3500 calories per pound.

You do not need to lose 9 lbs...119 lbs for 5'6" is not much. so since you don't...it will be very hard to do so..

9 pounds in 10 days is too much too fast. The quicker it comes off the quicker it will pile back on--with interest.

Slow and steady is more permanent and healthier than "crash" dieting.

3500 cal = 1lb
so a total of 31,500 cal
but its not an exact science, its not like balancing your checkbook.
