I feel that the world would be a much better place if everyone were religiously tolerant. Civil unrest, mass murder, and genocide would be greatly reduced and genuine peace would flourish.

It is interesting to see the answers.
Jesus is not 'coming' because He has never been away. It is people who have fallen asleep.
When people awaken, they shall find peace within themselves and then be able to live in harmony with their brothers and sisters.
The 'essence' of world peace, then is to awaken from the sleep that leads to death and realise the light of life.

The absence of war, poverty, greed, and hatred would be steps in the right direction, but they'll never be truly taken until all things reach a white-hot heat and all hell breaks loose. Who knows? Maybe if that happens there won't be enough people to care about it all, anyway.

To be able to get along with each other, no matter what our beliefs and religions, etc are.
To observe the golden rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Or more simply "Harm no one, including yourself".
That means no violence or murder, etc etc and no more wars...
Part of this will be respecting our environment (not raping the Earth anymore, but looking after it instead) and universe.
