RE: My Father, we've had our ups and downs. He did put our Family through some hard times, had an affair with some woman for years, yet, my Parents have been married for 57 years. I've been going to Trials since the age of 10. He was on the lam for 5 years, finally turning himself in. That was hard. His time in Prison was hard on all of us, as I'd have Patients kick me out of their rooms, because he was my Dad. Same thing happened to my Sister, also. Despite it all, it made me a Survivor. I turned to chemical dependancy for a bit of happiness when young, and continued to get worse as the years wore on. For some reason, with 5 siblings, my Dad has always leaned on me. He is now a crippled up elderly person, and he can barely walk. If I had not gone through this modified version of this, I would not have been the Survivor I am today. I forgave him years ago. I would always want to know who my Father was, as some people aren't as fortunate. He wasn't a good role model, but I always loved him.
Sorry for the long story.

I believe the answer can be summed up best thusly. Would you rather have had a father and not necessarily liked or got along with him. Or spend your entire life wondering what it would have been like and not having an example, good/bad, to look at.
