Try craigslist.org or join freecycle.org for the county and state that you live in. On Craigslist, people give things away, but also sell things (sometimes at really good prices) and on freecycle it's just what the word says, "free." On Freecycle someone posts an "offered" or you can post a "wanted" and you hook-up with people who are getting rid of things and instead of putting things in the garbage, into our landfills, they offer the item to someone else. I have seen wedding gowns offered on the group I belong to. Good luck!!!

Borrow one from a friend, neighbour or family member. You might be lucky. But then a lot of people wont wont to lend it, purely because it was their special dress and they want to be the only one wearing it. So dont be offended if they say no.
Plus, some people would get annoyed, they had to fork over the cash for their own dress and think you should have to buy your own too.
And the girls who bought their dress and got dumped before the wedding, well they would be busily trying to recoup their losses.
If you cant afford a wedding dress as such, just buy a pretty cocktail dress or something similar, will be a lot cheaper.

If you want one for free I would suggest asking to borrow one from a friend or family member. You can buy discounted gowns from places like goodwill and other consignment shops, and Target also has a line of wedding dresses that start at $99.

You can always try thrift shops like goodwill or salvation army....go to some of the more affluent areas (middle to upper middle class), and you will likely a greater selection than your neighborhood store.
Although I must say, personally, that I would never just give away my dress. I have spent time, money, and effort purchasing it....and after I wear it, it will hold a lot of sentimental value.

Theft shops or salvation Army or Dry Cleaners (people tend to leave them there) are good plays to check and when you check and they don't have one. Ask the clerk at the counter and see if she will take down your name and number to call if they get one in to call you. Also think of a date you want to set so you aren't waiting until the last minute waiting. Give yourself a enough time so you still have time to find one if these places don't come through.

Yes people do! I'm picking up a lovely one tomorrow from a dry cleaner, the lady who brought it in a few years ago, and didn't want it!

David's Bridal has wedding dresses for $99.00!!! If you can't afford to spend that much you shouldn't have a wedding.
