Is furniture cheaper in High Point North Carolina or at the Room Store?

I keep hearing about Highpoint North Carolina but is their furniture really cheaper? The room store you can buy a nice sofa for about $800 but am I going to find lower prices in Highpoint, NC?

I live and own a furniture company in High Point( wholesale)
10 years ago furniture was still made in the USA but now the majority of all cased goods and leather furniture is imported from Asia and shipped by container to stores direct. I suggest buy local for these items because stores in High Point have no competitive edge to your local stores who buys containers. Some of the sofas and bedding are still made in the USA. What you can find in High Point are Furniture Market Samples that are usually sold at a great discount and there are In Home Delivery companies that will deliver it to you anywhere in the country for a surprising decent price.

As others have pointed out, the furniture at the Room Store and the furniture in Highpoint are not comparable. The Room Store $800 sofa will still be $800 in Highpoint. For a bit more you can get something of better quality, but you won't find anything cheap.

You can get GREAT deals on quality furniture up in Highpoint or Hickory North Carolina. Remember these are generally better quality and made in America.

The Room Store, along with Rooms To Go and others of the same dynamics generally sells imported goods, mostly from China and Taiwan. Look at the quality - I have seen some great sofa buys at these places, but instead of wood the fabric is actually wrapped around thick cardboard.

But if you have the chance take a look in NC. There are some small furniture makers including some Amish makers that have some great furniture, that you won't see just anywhere.

To answer your questions directly...Yes and No. Yes you may find some great buys on fine furniture that is either discountiued or floor samples. But on the no side, it is finer furniture and expect to pay a little more.

I have never had anything but MAJOR problems with the Roomstore...their furniture is CHEAP..and delivery is a nightmare. Once they brought me a piece that didn't even match the rest and tried to leave! They also damaged a peice and it was too much trouble to have it resolved. I will NEVER shop there again. North Carolina is known for more inexpensive quality furniture, I would def. check out that store you mentioned. AND remember, CHEAPER isn't always better! You most likely are gonna keep the furniture for a long time...so do it right!

You can get *cheaper* furniture at the room store. You may be able to find an *inexpensive* piece of good furniture in High Point.

No, but the you might as well get the furniture from somewhere closer to you because the out of state taxes might be kind of high.
