a regular pound cake has a pound of flour, pound of butter, pound of sugar and a pound of eggs. That looks after why a pound cake is termed a pound cake. As to why this is bought in a 12 ounce length, probable because the classic length is basically too large for most to devour before it is going stale. although to be technical a Troy pound is 12 oz yet a troy pound is used specially to degree efficient metals. If someone is promoting you a pound of gold it is going to likely be 12 oz. In united states of america we use the avoirdupois pound this is unquestionably 16 oz.
