I would assume full, but I have heard otherwise, too.

what about turkey full?

2007-12-05 07:16:42 · update #1

it would be using plain lead 00 unplated buckshot. I'm hunting thick brush, but I want my pattern to stay together as much as possible

Full choke

Never use a full choke with buckshot. It is too tight and will either be shot out or cause damage to the barrel. I prefer a Modified choke. It gives a nice pattern.

the TIGHTEST pattern would come from the Xtra-full turkey chokes....BUT! using a 00 buckshot...theres not that many bb's to pattern! I'd suggest Modified, but just for your help heres how the choke tubes list from the widest to the tightest patterns.....cylinder bore, improved cylinder, modified, full, xtra-full......keep in mind you can't shoot steel in a lead choke tube...buckshot is NOT steel, but this will be helpful if you duck hunt! good luck!

depends on the type of shot more than the size of the shot. i would try a modified choke. i personally don't use buckshot but i know with steel (larger size) you can bulge a barrel using full choke.

two great sites/forums to get better info are www.gunbroker.com and www.shotgunworld.com

I had one Mossberg 500 barrel that would shoot 00buck tighter through the mod. tube. You have to pattern test your own gun and see what happens.
