I'm looking for a good program to download to edit photos. Not only to crop or resize but also to add designs and art. I would also like to make my photos in black/white. I have Windows XP. I'm only going to download a trail version first to see how it works so if you know the site where i can get it from, that would be helpful.

Oh! and one more thing, I tried Adobe Photoshop from Download.com and I logged into the Adobe to finish the rest of the download but the site wasnt' working.

thanks =]

Photoshop is the best software bar none, but it is expensive. You can dl a trial from Adobe.com, download.com sometimes is inconsistent.

Friends of mine have had a good deal of success with Corel Paint Shop Pro:

And Gimp - which is free:

I have used both a little and think they are just fine, but slightly limited when compared to PS.

Good luck!

Well Adobe Photoshop is the best, you could try downloading the trial from adobe.com. If you don't want a trial, I recommend GIMP, it has many features of Photoshop and costs nothing (you can also download GIMP from download.com).

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

Other free alternatives would be Paint.net or Picasa from Google.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 is the creme de l. a. creme, yet very high priced and sophisticated. they could furnish a attempt then purchase decision. Adobe Photoshop aspects is a great product - a subset of the total Photoshop that many non-experts use. It incorporates an excellent type of the main suitable effective factors. same seller. examine their internet site for a attempt then purchase plan. Adobe Lightroom is likewise great. yet would not guard 'layers' like the Photoshop classes. whether this is awesome for organizing and categorizing pictures besides as uncooked image processing and preliminary step JPG processing.

Well I'm into photography and use photoshop cs3, but I also have adobe photoshop elements 6 wich is a good alternative if you do casual retouch of photos. Both are great programs, but as in all adobe products the learning curve is steep if you are not used to adobe.

I recommend combining PhotoImpression 3 and PhotoImpression 5. I had been using it for years about everything at my pictures and all I wanted to do are just done as I like it. . . PI-3 is basic and free while PI-5 software is about 30 bucks.

Go to PhotoImpression.com and get it. I am sure you will be happy to know about this. . .

Gimp's super powerful. As powerful as Photoshop. It's free. It's THE best. http://www.gimp.org

Maybe you could get by with something just a little (but not too much) simpler and not all that expensive... Do you want to pay for it? Paintshop Pro is VERY good. http://www.jasc.com
