My DH is overseas and is being put o a 6 month lockdown. I was wondering if someone could explain to me why it would be for so long and why they would.

that means for six months he will NOT be able to contact you at all.
the length and reasons why are probably Classified. Don;t bother trying to find out, it's just how things are.
have a friend who goes 9 months at a time like this. you just have to keep the faith.

Six months is the regular duty and the reason is a top secret item.

It is standard to say 6 months hoping it will be less.
But the reasons will always be classified.
