Still 17 there is a theory that it is only young drivers who have just pased their test who will have accidents. All drivers who have just passes their tests become over confident for a while and are likely to have an accident. that is why premiums are so high for inexperienced drivers.

I was in my 30's when I passed my test and some of the things I did in that first twelve months make my hair curl when i think of them. I still make silly mistakes but not as often aand one heck of a lot slower/,. Part of the experience is letting another driver get away with being stupid in the full knowledge that it could well be you the next time

It's still 17, my neighbour's son has just passed his test at 17. There's talk of it being raised in the future, also having "new driver" plates but no dates set.

Hi Pippi,
theres much hype about it and nothing in law, so for now, its without doubt still 17!
It will be announced (we hope) when or if it does.
hope this helps.
Merry xmas
