MSG stands for mono sodium glutamate. It is a food flavor substance that is separated from kelp (sea weed). By itself, it has a faint soup-like flavor that makes your mouth water, but is not salty. Your frozen food is probably flavored by excessive salt, although many Chinese processed food does include MSG. But those numbers are supposed to be decreasing.

Monosodium Glutamate :) a preservative used in some processed foods. It makes food taste a bit salty, like in some Chinese foods it is used in. However it has been linked with allergy reactions in some people who've eaten Chinese food containing it, although it hasnt been definitively proven that it is MSG that is the cause. Most likely is msg in your food considering its processed and Chinese :) Hope this helps xxx

Most likely it's the MSG. Monosodium Glutamate. Basically it's a fancy salt used as a preservative.

MSG is monosodium glutamate. It tricks your brain into thinking something tastes better than it really does. It is in just about everything you buy packaged at the grocery store. that is why it is better to cook things yourself.

It is a "flavor enhancer." Ugh! I don't know why people use it, especially in Chinese food. There are plenty of spices out there that can be used to enhance flavor that are not a chemical. Many people, including myself, are allergic to it. It gives me a headache, makes my throat swell up and makes me nauseous.
