Excellent question pammy.
I consider myself Christian. I do not go to church. I believe there is too much corruption going on there. I learned that early in life.
My parents are both athiests.
I love Jesus Christ, he is my comfort and my guide through this life.
I don't care about whether others believe or not. They are missing out on so much.
I try to lead a good life and set good examples. This is being Christian.

I think "daljack" (first responder) has nailed it.

You are in the best situation a Christian can be.

1. No clergy to tell you right and wrong - you are free to read your bible yourself and understand by yourself. That's strength because you are not leaning on some padre to show you the way.

2. You can also see people of other faiths and learn from their good habits (had you lived in a Christian community, you would have been in the dark about these). Their presence doesn't make you a lesser Christian, does it?

3. You can create your church inside your mind and your soul can live in this little house-on-the-rock that you build.

And there the INTERNET of course. Whatever you want, it's there over here !!

God (basically) said in the OT, "These are my rules. Follow them exactly or face the consequences. One day a man will come that will follow all of my rules to perfection. When that day comes, listen to him. Do what he says. Until then, you are to listen to me!"

As a Christian I believe Jesus was that man. I'm trying my best to live like Jesus. I don't go to church because I haven't found one that interprets the bible the way I do. I have plenty of friends that are Christian, but it isn't a subject we talk about regularly.

All you need is faith and a desire to improve.

What do you think they did before there were churches? When everyone was a farmer or hunter and all you had within a days walk was a neighbor or two.

The head of household read scriptures and they took it for what it was worth. If they didnt understand its meaning it didnt matter or they would find out through the teachings of the world.

Of course being well traveled and well educated helps.

Live the life in the way that God tells us - Love thy neighbor. If you follow one thing, that is enough. Read about the various religions and you will find a common thread and that is it. Going to church is a way to learn about religion but it is only about the one that you go to. It is often better to learn about them all. The other thing that church gives you is a group of supporters that hopefully help you follow God's rule.

Your not going to be able to live a Biblically sound christian life without attending church, that is where your true family is.The Bible commands christians to attend church to strengthen your christian life,as well as to strengthen the lives of your brothers and sisters in the Lord in the church,it's a two way street, they have something to offer you,and you to them. The Bible commands we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves, which means we are not to not attend church. If your truly redeemed, ask Christ to lead you to a church where the KJV Bible is preached, where Christ is exalted, and their number one goal is to spread the Gospel.STAY IN THE WORD OF GOD AT ALL TIMES! It's the only way you will spiritually grow! Dont worry about those around you who dont believe, ask Christ to help you,He will if you are sincere.

Why not going to church? There are no church or belivers around?
* Pray to God to guide you and provide the spirituals needs you have.
* We are living in 2007, you may have access to internet, TV, and AM/FM radio. Search for christians sites or TV/radio programs and attend church electronically or at long distance.
* Contact churches in other regions ask them to send missionaries to your area, help the missionaries to preach the gospel in your area.
* Become a missionary, go study, prepare yourself, and then return to preach in your area.

Why, are you living in an area where christians are not predominant and there is not a church near you?
If you are a christian and have access to a church, why not go?

A Christian life has nothing to do with going to church or being around other people who believe or don't believe.

It has to do with how you live your life......period.
