Ok guys I know there are many question asking if DDT should be brought back or not. And there is also a famous book by Rachel Carson "Silent Spring". What do you think should be done. And is DDT the only pesticide to eradicate the pest problem.

DDT can theoretically be used responsibly to avoid hundreds of thousands of deaths from malaria. In 1st world nations it is completely unnecessary, as we generally have few cases of malaria and we have the resources to treat them.

But malaria remains one of the number one causes of death in developing nations. Many countries in Africa still use DDT to great success to protect their citizens, and it works. I don't have any stats for you, but they're widely available.

National geographic also did a major article on malaria...either this year or last, so if you know anyone who collects NG, you'd only have to look through 24 or so. One of the lines I do remember from that article is this:

"Some scientists estimate that every other person who has ever lived since humanity emerged has died from malaria."
