My 17 year old daughter wanted me to drive her to her 7:00 am Bowling class this morning. I started to drive very slowly, but after twenty seconds, I realized I couldn't see more than a few feet infront of me. So, I told her we had no choice but to go back home and she has to forget about her class.
She really got mad at me and started to cry, yell and scream at the top of her lungs. She caused a big scene. She tells me that I am a terrible mother. She also found out that her classmates went to the class. But we live vey close to the hills and may be our area gets more foggy than other areas. What do you think?

Usually a classmate gives her a ride, but I told her to call and tell the classmate I was going to give her a ride this morning, because I was worried. I also think the classmate would have been in big trouble trying to drive to our area.

It's very simple, if you don't feel comfortable diving, don't!!!
It's better to have your daughter screaming blue murder than both of you fetching up dead.

If you drive really slow and keep you eyes open. Listen to the news on the radio for signs to drive or not, but you cant let fog stand in your way, just take all the neccary precautions. As for a bad mother...No your looking out for your daughter and her safety. If you dont feel confident driving in the fog she should understand, the fog can be very dangerous. She'll get over it.

You should see if you could get a ride with another classmate. If you don't feel comfortable driving in the fog then you should find another classmate's parent that is fine with driving your daughter to bowling class.

I think you did the right thing. Safety first.
I am more concerned about your 17 year old behaving like a two year old.
See how terrible of a mother she thinks you are when she's going to be booted out in a matter of months and sees what adults have to put up with not having anything freely handed to them.

Uhh... yes, it's pretty dangerous, but... oh. i was gonna say it might've been you're headlights that was the problem, because it's night. but it's the morning in your case. well, it might still apply... make sure you have your headlights on low beam, because with high beam it just makes it worse for yourself. if your daughter would understand that she could've died, because you couldn't see through the fog, and not go to bowling class, but in a hospital, or worse a body bag, then she'd understand.

I think your daughter is a spoiled brat and you should be a better mother
You shouldn't have to explain something, it is what it is
If it's bright and sunny out and you tell her no, then it's no
Does she want you to get into a car accident?

You were right. If it is dangerous, it is dangerous. It doesn't matter how angry your daughter got or how upset. They are kids and don't always have the best judgment, that's why we are the adults.
Stick to your guns!
