If you have tried the dress on and determined what size you need, then you can order it online but don't order one you have never tried on. Wedding dress sizes vary GREATLY and it may not fit you when it comes. This is an important dress, you should see the way it looks on you before you pay for anything.

Before you order it, you should go to a store that sells the dress and try it on. Wedding dress sizes vary (from what I've seen, most run small). Also, just because you see a dress online and like it does not mean you will like it on you.
If you have tried on the dress and like it, order it online. Just make sure you read the return policy first just in case.

You can order the dress online....most of the dresses in bridal salons have to be altered anyway. Just make sure you have a reputable seamstress lined up...one that you trust...and order the dress WELL in advance to give you enough time for alterations.
The only drawback to that is, a lot of dresses look much different in pictures than they do when you actually put them on. The dresses on the models are pinned and tacked to fit them perfectly....they might look VERY different when YOU put it on.

Ordering a dress on line is not a problem- but wedding dresses are usely- non-returnable and non-refundable!
You could get a great deal or get stuck with a problem.
Call the place first- make sure they are a good dealer (some internet shops are fakes or are closed but still take your credit card and don't ship the goods!) Make sure you talk to someone and ask them about the return policy.

See if you can try the dress on in a bridal store to have and idea of your size, then order online at a reliable place with a good price.

Try finding a store close by where you can get the dress. When you order something online, not only is it normally more expensive online, but you also have to pay for shipping and handleing. Wich can lead to you paying more than what you would pay in a store.

If you have a special body type, or if you have probelms finding clothing in the stores, I suggest you do not buy online.
Also, if you are planning to lose/gain weight for the wedding, buying a dress online would not be a good idea.
If you do know a good seamstress that you trust, aor if you are always the same size and the sizing chart matches your measurements perfectly, I would go fo it.
Good luck

it depends. I ordered the bridesmaid dresses for my wedding online, but I took all my 'maids to a bridal shop to try on the styles and pick which one they wanted and also to get measured to determine their size.
but I wouldn't recommend ordering a dress you've never tried on. see if you can find a local bridal shop that carries the style so you can decide if you really do like it. I tried on probably 30 wedding dresses and was surprised by how some of them looked on me (both good and bad).

It may look good online or in print, but it is never the same until you've tried it on. Ordering online can be risky business....the color or material may or may not be what you expected. I suggest you go to a bridal shop or botique to try it on before considering ordering it online.

I was about to buy one online... am glad I didn't sizes are so different. You can do what many girls suggested go and try it on, if you like it and you know its online then get it.
Make sure you can retunr it... just in case you dont like it.
Congrats!
