Begin with a clear diet. Ginger is good for an upset stomach so ginger ale is good. Eat Things like chicken noodle soup or just the broth is best, jello, tea, coffee,...things you can see through are a good bet on what you can eat.
Then move to soft foods. Mild foods. Things that have a soft consistency. You will be able to tell whether it is hard or soft. Gradually, very gradually begin harder type foods
Wait until you are feeling completely well to begin eating nuts, beef, pork, etc. Tomatoes are acidic so hold off on fresh vegetables which are acid. Also wait on vegetables which are harder to digest like cabbage, broccoli, celery, etc.
Best wishes for a healthy new start!

I've had food poisoning twice in the past two years and I've found that plain dry toast works very well. Also popsickles or something cold and non-dairy (no ice cream!) Bananas are another food that's easy on the stomach. You can also try saltine crackers and ginger ale with lots of crushed ice. Some people will tell you to drink it warm and flat, but that makes me want to throw up more!

after food poisoning its best to stick to the BRAT diet: Banana, rice, applesauce and toast (dry). No fats like butter or oils. This is easiest on the stomach. Saltine crackers are fine as well. Try drinking some diluted juice, water, and avoid carbonated beverages.

A liquid diet for awhile to clear the system of lingering effects then a soft scrambled egg, buttered mash potatoes, clear soups, and try V8 vegetable juice for its energy. after a time some low sugar cereal would fill you up and help sustain you.
