Hello, I have a high end Denon receiver. It's really dusty on the inside. Should I open it and dust it? Will that help protect my unit? Or should I just leave it as is? I've seen those bottles of air that are used for removing dust. Anyone reccomend those? Thanks, NF

Dust and dirt can cause problems; heat build up, static accumulation, short circuits etc.
Disconnect the power, purchase a can or two of compressed air, open it up and go to it. Worth the price of a few bucks compared to a possible failure and high repair bill for the Denon.

both the above posters have got it right-a can of compressed air can be bought from most hardware shops. if its not under warranty then open the top and gently blow away the dust using a to-and fro motion. try not to get too close to the components as the air could condensate creating moisture (which you don't need). a distance of ten iches or so ought to do it. leaving it as it is could lead to over-heating thus shortening the life of the components. as it is a high-end receiver it may benefit you to take it to a denon specialist for a full service-not that expensive and it would be money well spent.

I have to agree with the rest of these guys (can air), I have a High End receiver also and I do the same every 6 months or less and for my PC, I do it every [3] months, But also it wouldn't help to get a slim style bristles brush, [with the softest of bristles you can find] and gently and I mean gently graze the circuits and capacitors but please be careful doing this, because you don't want to mistreat a High End receiver....

Get a compressed can of air found at your local electronic store for cheap. Buy 2 to go air crazy!

cheers!
