They are a blend of different races. Some are Caucasian and mongoloid, some are ******* and causation and mongoloid. Some are mongoloid and *******. With a multitude of generations effecting each one.
Depending on how one wants to clarify their race....many by anthropological means are causation. They go by bone structure.....not skin color. Obama is considered "black" but he is a mix. Tiger Woods is a mix but blacks and asians will jump on the band wagon as well.
We have had "white" skin colored people who were 1/2 black. Seriously...based on the education people had at a given period ......they used to tell a kid they were the "milk mans" daughter. Simply because a hidden race happened to be dominate during some mix. Home of blond kids with one dark haired one. Family of short people with one tall one. Dark skin and one white as snow. Blue vs Green vs Brown vs Black vs Violet eyes? I have 2 daughters. One is tiny baby-doll petite. Dark skin, Green eyes, "sultry" looking. The other snow white, Green eyes, Red curly hair, heavy set but short. Grand-parents....1 Comanche Indian over 6 ft tall. Irish, German, French,Dutch, others. Some fat, some short, some tall, some dark. some extreemly tiny and short....mix is what it ends up. A mix. Blonde, brunette, red-head. Light, dark. fat skinny, tall, short. What are they?
One is marrying a "latino" what about their kids....what are they? Or does it totally depend on how white they are? Or how dark they are?
We are all pretty much a blend in one degree or another. Cut peoples eyes out? Bring out a paint shade detector? Family tree? Criminal record? You tell me.

Hispanic means coming from a Spanish speaking country or culture. Meaning you can be white, black, asian, arab, and everything in between and be hispanic. People in Argentina are mostly of pure European background, same goes for Chile, Uruguay, and parts of Mexico. There are people of African background all over Latin America. There is a large Asian population in Peru and in other countries of Latin America.
According to Mexican law a person born in Mexico or has 1 Mexican parent (parent has to be born in Mexico) regardless of race is Mexican. Mexico is a country, just how Canada is a country not a race.
I'll give myself as an example. I am Hispanic and I am Mexican. My father's family is Mexican but they are crillos (either Spanish or French background). My father's family is French and Spanish, my last name is French. My mother was born in Romania and her family moved to Mexico in the 1960's because of the communist. Both of my parents are white, regardless where they were born. I was born in Mexico I have red hair and green eyes and I am fair skinned.
My ethnicity/culture is Mexican/Hispanic/Romanian.My race is white. My nationality is Mexican.

Hispanic is a term that historically denoted relation to the ancient Hispania and its peoples.
Hispania is the name given by the Romans to the Iberian Peninsula (present-day Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar) during the period of the Roman Republic.
During the 1970s, the United States Government defined the term "Hispanic" to identify Latin American individuals, and their descendants, living in the U.S., regardless of race.
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget currently defines "Hispanic or Latino" as "a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race".
People tend to use the word Hispanic synonymously along with the word "Latino" or "Latin" to identify the people living within the Spanish speaking countries. The word may also refer to its language and cultural heritage.

I find it really funny that people don't know the difference between a nationality and race. Just like the USA has different races and cultures in it but everyone here is American.. other countries have different races within them too. Nationality is the country of which you are a citizen.
Technically there is a controversey as to whether race exist at all.

My ancestory is from Spain and Cuba. I am "white." My nationality is American. My culture is cuban/spanish/american.

Mestizo probably would be the best classification for the majority. There are only 3 original anthropological races... Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and *******. I doubt that there are many people in the world who are pure anything. I'm part Hungarian, which descends from the Magyar and Huns, so I know that somewhere way back I at least have some Mongoloid. We're all mixes, and I really don't think we need to label anyone.

As far as i'm concerned, "Hispanic" is a race, while "Mexican" is not a race but i'ts a nationality. Calling any hispanic a "Mexican" is incorrect; it would be like calling any white person an "American." Now , that would be incorrect, wouldn't it? Hispanic is any person with spanish ancestry mixed with Latin American ancestry. And Latino is any peson from Latin America; but not a race however, though many persons make the mistake of using it to point the Hispanic race. By the way, people from Spain are of White race rather than Hispanic even though they're from Spain.

Hispanic means heritage from Spain, it comes from the Roman named Province of Iberia, Hispania. Mexican is a nationality, just as American is a nationality. E.g. former Mexican President Vicente Fox is an Irish-Mexican. President G.W. Bush is an English-American.

Hispanic label comes from Hispanola, or Spain. A hispanic is a mix of indian, and Spanish conqueror. The hispanics are a race, just like the white anglo saxon. Hispanics group themselves because of the Spanish background(from Spain) and the native language (Spanish). Mexican is one of the groups belonging to the hispanola race. The labels have changed over time, some still call themselves Latino.
