u need to download a file so u can play ps2 games into the ps3. it needes online to install the file. trust me i had to do this to make it work. its under playstation network downloads. playstation 2 system.

same way you play PS3 games
put it in
go to PS2 under GAME
hit X
unless your 40 have a 40 gig PS3
in which case the only way is to get another PS3 with 20/60/80 gigs
or a PS2

if you got a 80 ps3 you got to download the software that in the ps3 store first to play ps2 game

If you have a 60GB or 80GB PS3 you can simply put it in and play. If you baught a 40GB PS3, i'm really sorry but there is no backwards compatibility for PS2 games...at all.

if you have the 80 gb one u can play 75% of ps 1/2 game
if you have a 60gb one u can play all ps2/1 games
if you have the 40gb one you can only play ps1 games.

same way as you would with ps3 games but if you have the 40gb then you cant play ps2 games

yo you have got to download to make 2 games play on the 3 read your manual mate its really easy even i did it first time!!!!
