I would also say $20 or $10 an hour for such a short time.
You have to make it worth it for a nanny that is only going to work 2.5 hours a day.

Is this an adult or another Mom? In your home or in their's? If the baby sitter has to come to your home and it's an adult you have to pay them more for their time involved in going to your home. I have always based my fee for watching kids after school in my home with my kids (and I picked them all up at once) on the after school program at the school. That's about $50 for a week. It's usually been the same hours you describe. But, the parents always knew if they were going to be later they could call and I'd still be there for them where the school would be closed at 5:30.
If the sitter is adult and coming to your home I'd say $60 a week. You have to account for the inconvenience factor to the sitter and the time to drive over and getting ready, etc.
You could just ask the sitter what she was thinking would be a good price. When someone first asked me to do this I blurted out a too low price and never spoke up. I'm a stay at home Mom and have been asked to do this for 14 years! lol Now I just say no. Also, discuss sick days in advance. There may be days when she's too sick to go to school, but not so sick she needs Mom all day, so you'll want to go to work, will the sitter take her if she's sick? What about all the holidays too? They have a lot of Teacher work days that aren't regular holiday days. If it's at her home, are snacks and juice included (or do you drop off a weeks worth every week)? Is she allowed to take your daughter to the grocery store if she needs too? Can she take her anywhere in a car? Are her kids in their car seats and are the installed correctly! Look in her car, don't ask. I'm a big seat belt advocate. Just a thought.
Good luck! I've had bad experiences when I did work outside the home and many good ones too. The good ones were ALL when a sitter/nanny was involved, not a corporation. Hug your daughter! ; )

That can very by where you live, of course due to prevailing wage and cost of living.
An experienced nanny should expect $10 an hour anyway.
About $25 for that time would be reasonable where I live.
I would probably pay $15 per hour for a qualified nanny.
About $15-20 (total) for a school age sitter, but at least the 25 for an adult .
My daughter has a full-time nanny for her kids and she has several and pays her nanny $750.00 per week plus room and board with 1.5 days per week off. If she must use her on her day off she pays her $150 more or $80 for the half day.
They can afford it and live in an expensive area as well and she is a professional nanny.

There are a lot of factors to take into consideration. How old is the sitter. If its a teen then $25 should be fine for 2 hours. If it's going to be 5 days a week then $100-125.

Well, first of all, she would be a babysitter not a nanny. A nanny provides full-time care.
I would say $4-5 per hour is the going rate. Make sure you pay her when you say you will. Like every Friday, for example. That shows her you appreciate the job she is doing for you. Also, leave her a detailed list of what's expected of her. Talk to your daughter also. She's the boss. If she likes the babysitter then you know you've chosen the right person for your little girl.

It depends mostly on where you live and what the going rate is. And their experience. For me, I think 25-30 (12 to 15 per hour) is a good rate. I know most people would look for a minimum of 4 hours, so it’s hard to have someone drive out if the 2hr job is less than 20. Hopefully, you’ll get lucky and find someone who doesn’t have to drive far.

I would say $15 - $25 per day - but alot depends on where you are who you are hiring.
I can get the neighbor girl who is 16 to watch my children for less than the college student -- and both do an equally good job.

If you want her to take care of your child pay her 6 dollars a hour and 3 dollars half an hour free electricity and snacks if she is a adult pay 12 dollars a hour and 6 dollars a half an hour because they take care of children much better free electricity and snack but has to put the child to sleep.

$5, sounds cheap, but think about it, weekly its $25 and it's only for 2 hours per day, I pay my aunt $60 per week for taking care of my son the whole day.ooooh and be sure your son/daughter feels comfortable being in that house or with the babysitter, now that's important.
