And if it's ok to do, how can I do it? Just hand them a card with a gift or money inside? I get lots of deliveries, and I'd like to do something nice for them. What do you think?

My father being a mailman for over 20 yrs. I would have to say that it is more then ok to tip your mail man and it is very appreciated as well. When my father was doing his route he would get all different types of things from bottles of wine to home baked goods and even money. I would have to say that depending on your relationship with your mailman would merit the type of gift. If actually know who the mail man is then a more personal gift is ok but if not then I would say money would do fine. I hope this helps

Yes, I gave thoughtful gifts to my postman and the UPS man last year. If I caught the UPS man working late, I'd offer him a cookie or a soda. He was, after all, really Santa, because I did so much on-line shopping. My mailman was a character who would actually come down the drive and toot toot the horn if I had a package. He always said, "Good Morning, Beautiful," even when I looked like a wreck. I gave him a gift certificate to a local restaurant he frequents. I think people who provide you good service all year really appreciate your noticing.

This is kind of a practice that seems to have died out. I remember my mom used to make cookies or a pie or something for the mail man...These days they would probably be too afraid to touch any baked goods for fear of anthrax. Its really your call whether to give them anything...I don't know if its proper or anything...I would just hand them the card, or leave it in the mailbox for the postal carrier...

I think its a great idea, all people who work in the service and delivery industry should get tipped when they do a good job for the customers, that includes lawn care workers.

Typically this would be done once a year for Christmas with a check or gift card, or other type of gift, but you don't tip them with each delivery.

As far as your US Post Man goes, you would need to give them a small gift b/c federal workers aren't allowed to take monetary tips!

Why not get them something like a small basket with foot soaks and a rolly-ball massager thing, two things I'm sure their aching body needs!

Sure, why not. Especially if he or she is your regular delivery person. It is a nice gesture. Even if you don't give cash or a gift a card is always nice. Good luck

Save your money, they get paid pretty well and technically that is totally their job description. I don't get tips for doing my job. Give em a card if you really want to, but think about all the other people that you don't tip that you encounter on a regular basis.
