developing human being. It's like they think that in the beginning it is some alien life form and call it a fetus, like it is a way for them to rationalize that they aren't aborting/killing an unborn HUMAN being, but rather are abortioning a piece of tissue/fetus or something like that. This is all hogwash. Eventually that fetus or whatever you want to call it, will turn into a baby. You can rationalize all you want, but at the end of the day, you are aborting a developing HUMAN being. If you don't want to raise the child yourself, put the child up for adoption. That is always a better answer than aborting. And for all the people out there who say, what about rape/incest. Well, the % of women in the US who get pregnant through rape/incest is very very very small. I don't have the figures, but I'd make an educated guess and say, 1%, or .5%. It's not that many. And in those cases, I still wouldn't advocate abortion, because it is not the unborn child's fault what happened to

the mother. I think abortion is so bad. You could be aborting the next Thomas Edison, or Wayne Gretzky, or Mozart. I just think it's really evil, that's just my opinion. Also, it is used way too much as a means of birth control, and that is just wrong. Anyone agree with me on anything I said?

No, this is NOT a RANT, this is a question regarding why so many people regard an unborn child as a fetus.

I agree whole heartedly! Its a baby and will grow into a baby. At conception you have created a baby. Its murder. There are thousands of couples that would love to have a baby and can't. Then there are those uneducated and irresponsible who choose to have unprotected sex. Those unfortunate to get raped (in which case its not their fault) but put the child up for adoption. I myself have lost 2 children and it devestated me even though one was 5 weeks and one was 12 weeks. But I think its even more powerful for someone who has a child and has felt the love of a child. How can they kill an innocent baby?

And I hate the hyperbole and fallacy that pro-lifers use to support their arguments... it's all hysterics with you people isn't it?
Here's a question: how many unwanted children have you adopted? How many charities for single mothers do you donate too? How much time do you give to your local children's shelter?
If the answer to these questions is none (which it most likely is) you can shut your trap because you're a hypocrit and not entitled to an opinion.
If your against abortion start adopting unwanted children and don't have one instead of wasting your time harassing women and causing a scene.
The term fetus comes from the medical community, not the pro-choice community... somehow I doubt you're a doctor.
Abortion is not the ideal choice, but that's also not a decision you can make for someone else. If we start FORCING women to go through with unwanted pregnancies then we might as well head on back to the 19th century...
And isn't there a message board you should be posting this diatribe on? It's not a question, it's just another idiot blathering on and on...

I agree and disagree.
First of all,I am very pro-life,but I don't believe that a woman that has been raped should have to carry the baby of a man that raped her.
Nor do I believe that a girl that has been molested by a family member should have to carry a baby that is the offspring of a father or uncle.
You're opinion,no offense,shows complete and utter ignorance.
Rape and molestation happens every 13 seconds.
So,I highly disagree with the figure that you presented of women that become pregnant due to these heinous crimes.
I,personally, would never get an abortion just because I was irresponsible and got pregnant.
But,as a woman that has been raped, and molested by a family member,I too would abort the baby,if it came from something like that.
And,it's not pro-choicers that came up with the term "fetus",take that up with the medical community.
I think you asked this question because you are bored and wanted to stir up trouble.

if i were pregnant, i would never call my unborn child a fetus. i would either call it baby or child. i agree with all that you say. the mother didn't ask to get raped either, but the mother has a voice and can put the prick who did it to her behind bars. the child has no voice and so can not be heard. if you don't want a child or you don't want to get pregnant then use birth control such as the pill or implanon. what's so hard with that? why do you think the word and products called contraception was invented for? for fun? no, for your own good and protection more like it. SO USE THEM!!!!
i like adoption. why do you think that was invented? to give childless families a chance of raising someone else's child as thier own. a way for them to be happy. what's so hard with adoption? i would rather go through adoption then abortion becuase at least then i wouldn't have to put up with as much guilt. knowing my baby was alive and well and making another person's life more complete and happy, i wouldn't want to askf or anything more then that.

I agree and disagree. I do believe that in America abortion is used as a means of birth control for people who are to irresponsible to use other forms of contraception. However, coming from an aunt whose neice was molested by her on step father and became pregnant. I cannot imagine not giving her the choice to complete the pregnancy or not especially after seeing how devastating it really can be to ones life without the complication of being a child into the picture.

blastocyst, embryo, fetus, all of these words mean 'developing human being'! Yes your unborn child is a baby, but there are other words for it too that describe at what stage of development they are at. It doesn't have anything to do with the abortion debate

Is there a question in there somewhere??? Oh, you want to know if anyone agrees with you, that is your question?
Why don't you start your own blog or something instead of clogging up YA with your rants, you probably have some wild crazed look on your face to as you furiously typed all of that out.
Also, I wouldn't state things that you don't actually know as fact like saying the amount of pregnancies resulting from rape or incest is very very small. What is very very small? Your educated guess doesn't count. What about the people that have to go through that? Not everything is either black or white.
EDIT: YES this is a rant, if that very short sentence was your question than what is the rest........a rant.

While I do agree with you I do not agree with the hatefullness of this question.
What exactly are you hoping to accomplish? People who have abortions are not always informed of the "facts". They have bought a lie from society and often suffer the rest of their life because no one ever told them how awful the emotional side effects would be ie, planned parenthood.
Please be careful what you say. There are already alot of women hurting and regretting their fateful decision. I am not trying to attack you I am just trying to say that having even a tone of judgement people will immediately tune you out and stand firm in their beliefs and miss your whole point.
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Elana,
Are you seriously comparing the life of your child to Adolf Hitler and mosquitoes?
WOW!
As far as choices are concerned as you all so eloquently put it. I believe when a couple chooses to not take the neccessary actions ie: birth control or dare I say it abstinence that is the CHOICE. After that you must accept the consequence of your CHOICE good or bad. Not kill your child for your poor CHOICE. BTW a baby is not a bad consequence

i agree with most of what you said, im against abortion for any reason except where the mothers life is at real risk.also as you stated the most appalling thing is the casual way it seems to be used as a form of birth control, some women have had several abortions.i realise for a lot of women it is not something they do lightly, but surely there is another alternative,so many potential parents are desperate to adopt an unwanted baby, every conceived human has a right to a chance of life, and i dont believe it is the mothers choice to deny them that.
