Depends on the circumstances. What's your relationshipo with him? Was he flirting with you? Were you flirting with him? If so, he may not tell anyone--I sure wouldn't.

--this may be a way of exploring mutual interests in a setting where it's difficult to do so.

I'd wait and see how he acts next time you see him or talk to him. Then go from there.

You should go find another job because he has likely told everyone in the building what you told him. Don't ever make that mistake again. Your reputation has been ruined with your coworkers. They will never think the same of you.

What you said is true. Yes, he has told friends in the the building and out. That's what we do. He is not lying so why sweat it. Go to work - do your job. Why do you care what people think. You can't please everybody anyway.
