I have a French first name (Annette), and my mother was very into beauty and the arts. Some people give their children regal names such as Katherine and Elizabeth.

It is not only what it says about them but also what they value. Some parents pick or conger up names only to be different from everybody else. For that I would say that they are really insecure. Other names are picked for relatives that your parents really admired. For that I would say that they are thoughtful and appreciative. Some names are picked just for the beauty of the name with the idea that you will grow into the name. For that they are hopeful. Then there is the final catagory. There is no rhyme or reason for them to pick a particular name, but they do it anyways.
All parents have some reason for the names they pick. You might end up surprised if you ask them and find out the real reason.pp

Annette is a lovely name. I have known several Annettes over the years, and I always thought it sounded very pretty without being too over - the - top.
My name isn't too outrageous and it's a "real" name, but it's also unique. I have only met one other person with my name so far. However, my parents chose to spell it with a silent H. They are both intelligent, educated people, but I guess they thought they would make it more unique by spelling it differently. To be honest, I love my name, but I HATE the spelling! I can practically count on one hand the number of people who have said my name correctly upon meeting me. Imagine having to correct almost everyone you meet, starting in preschool. I used to dread the roll call on the first day of school, knowing that I would have to correct the teacher. The same goes for doctor appointments and job interviews. So while my parents meant well, I think they really missed the mark.
My older sister's name is Olivia. She was born decades before her name became trendy, so it really caught people's attention when she was young. She didn't like it when she was young, but she loved it when she got to be a teenager.
Our younger brother's name is John - go figure. Perhaps they realized their mistake after having two daughters with unique names.

My parents named me Norman. They used to live in a nice community outside of St. Louis, MO. by the name of Normandy. Actually I never asked them but I think that was the reason. Anyway I like the name.

My parents named me Christa. My mother named me mainly, after Christa Mc Auliff from the Challenger 13 mission that blew up. She was a school teacher that won a trip into space.

My brothers name is Richard.

I think my mother named us more than my dad. I like my name.

I don't think it says anything predictable......sometimes cultural issues or family traditions play a bigger part in naming babies than parent's wishes. I know more than a few people who felt pressured to name children after grandparents or deceased relatives, and regretted it, but felt at the time they had little say.

You tell me what you think it says about them....

my grandpa named my mother Faith in hopes there would be 2 more children who could be Hope and Charity.

and well my mom had 2 daughters..so my sister became Hope and i became Charity.

EDIT: TO BILLINGS! OMG haha i almost never run into another Charity!

I think It says my mom and grandfather were religous and weren't scared to be different. especially back before Faith and Hope were common names.

I am Charity............I was told I was named after a friends daughter, lol But I have two boys named Kayden and Ashton, I named them because it was from no other source accept my own imagination. Did not want to name them after anyone so that way they would feel more unique.
