Being single...
Advantages: 'Freedom' to do whatever you want, sleeping alone in your own bed
Disadvantages: Being alone more often, not having your best friend there at all times, not having that constant support system.
Being married...
Advantages: Always having someone you trust and love there for you, having someone to hold you and support you when you're upset, having someone to push you when you don't believe in yourself, the general partnership involved.
Disadvantages: The 'quirks' of the other person and having to live with them, dealing with caring for two people rather than one.
Overall I prefer being married. It's enriched my life so much.

In a good marriage you never have to worry about STD's and lonliness and the emotional roller coaster of dating again. I would never want to be single again for anything in the world. A good spouse just makes life so much better. I have been married 10 years and I am even more in love now than I was on my honeymoon.

of course it depends on the marriage but here are some general things:
you often have two incomes to support one dwelling; ie one isp bill, one heat bill, one mortgage, etc.
you can cooperate on things: ie one of you can go to the post office or grocery store or do the taxes while the other person fixes the car or the toilet or mows the yard. if you're single you have to do every chore.
ideally you have someone who you KNOW is on your side, but this is not always true.
single:
advantage: don't have to consult anyone, have total freedom to move to another city without negotiating or anything you want to do. lots more freedom.
disadvantage: may be more difficult to meet your companionship and sex needs.
