Cats clean themselves. I have 2 cats and one is 14 and the other is 13 and i have never given them a bath! I don't think i ever will! If one of them turned up covered in something from head to paw, then i prob try and help get most of it off with a towel or something, but i would never give them a bath. In the wild they would clean themselves. The only closest my cat has come to the bath is too drink the water from the taps!

I have given many a sucessful bath, you need to hold them down by thier neck firmly with one hand, and the other hand needs to do everything else as quickly as possible. I find that if you run the tub before putting the cat in they take to it better, and sometimes if you are lucky the cat doesn't mind the water. Get them as dry as possible and leave them be for a while after though, most cats get pretty p*ssed off when they are bathed. I had a siamese cat that would swim in my pool with me.. it was cute.

Hi, I have. It was a long time ago and I got him as a very young kitten and as soon as he was eating dry food (maybe 6 -8 weeks old) I started giving him a bath every week.
He did fine from that early age. I would NOT try giving any of the ones I have now a bath. I've had them since they were born, but they're indoor / outdoor and it'd be a constant job :-)
I think the ealier one starts w/bathing them the easier it is.
Just my own experience.

Yes I have. A friend of mine has a cat that even she cant bathe because she bites her. Some cats are very difficult, and must be mildly sedated, althoughm I find that holding them by the scruff of their neck during the bath keeps pretty good control over them. Not ALL cats, but most of the ones I have dealt with. Cats do groom themselves, but sometimes they get into something smelly or sticky and must be bathed.

I never succeeded in bathing my cat but I have succeeded in giving them a shower. We both hop in the shower and he is so busy trying to get the door open that i soap him up and wash him without him even noticing. He might have been miserable and crying for a couple of minutes but he was nice and clean afterwards

I have had many cats over the years and have not felt the need to bath any of them ,they there selves do a perfectly good job .at keeping clean ,so why go to the length of bathing them , i don't think scaring the living day lights out of them is natural or necessary

Yes, it takes time. The last cat I had, never like taking a bath, so, I decide to let the cat stay in the bathroom with me while I take a bath. At one point, I let my cat in the bath tub with me and he did not jump out. Plus, you got to have a good bond with you cat.

You never ever should try to bath acat, they clean themselves.Trying to bath them can and will turn them against the owner and can take away the trust your cat has in you. I learned this when i had my 1st cat and tried to bathe her. She went absolutly mad and with in a couple of weeks i had to take her back and i got a stern telling off for it.

Yes I have bath my cats, and the difficult of doing this is there not happy campers after words. Try it the experience will do you good and maby the cat will adjust to them. My cats on the other hand just looked like drowned rats poor things. I would even just make the water very warm and not deep. Hold them tight cause they will fight and you have the risk of getting clawed and the cat will run for his or her life and won't come out of hiding. Good luck and don't use human shampoo on them because that dries their natural oils out of their skin. Kitty shampoo only.

Yes. My cat used to try to jump out, and would claw at us white trying to get out of the water. I think this may have had something to do with the water temp though because she doesn't do that anymore. Though she does Meow sadly. When she had kittens we would wash them all together and she would come one by one and take them to a hiding place. And when we followed her to get them back they were in the closet. So we took them back to finish the bath, and she kept taking them to other hiding places.
