Sounds pretty shaky. I wouldn't do it.

First job interviews can be quite daunting, and people are often scared to ask questions that they think might sound cheeky. It helps to think of the things that you would like to know, like how much and when you will get paid, your holiday entitlement etc and take a list of questions with you (in a smart notebook or folder - not a scrap of paper!) Most jobs are monthly paid, in arrears, towards the end of the month and the employer may have assumed she knew the arrangements if she didn't ask. Did the employer offer to pay travelling expenses? if so, again if it wasn't clear your friend needed to ask the question at the time.

Any potential employer would consider it quite reasonable that you ask these questions, and would probably even think better of you as it shows you have thought about things and are prepared. Perhaps your friend could make a phone call to find out tomorrow and explain that she forgot to, or didn't like to, ask at the time?

This isn't a question you'd ask in an interview, but once a job offer has been make, it's perfectly ok to find out these details. After all, you're there to make money not to pay out with your own expenses.

Your friend has every right to (politely) ask her direct supervisor about the pay scheduling and the process for submitting expenses. The supervisor probably just hasn't had a chance to give her a proper orientation, it happens.

A reputable employer would have given her an official offer in writing setting out brief details of the terms and conditions, including information on when / how she will be paid. She's going to have to pluck up the courage to go and see whoever's in charge of the H.R. department and get this sorted.

unfortunately employers do not willingly give out the information thats important to us, it happens to most ppl, you have to be bold enough to ask outright in the interview.

She should have found this out in the interview, if they didn't tell her then she should have asked.
