I've got a Hyundai Amica, with 4 seats. There's plenty of room for an extra person - can I get an extra seatbelt fitted, and is it legal to have an extra person (whether there's a seatbelt or not)?
Thanks.

Thanks everyone.
I'm still learning to drive, actually, and I didn't think I could have 5 people, I was just checking.

No.
Your insurance will be invalid if you carry more people than the car is designed for.
Adding an additional seatbelt will be a modification that you would have to inform your insurance company about, which would increase your premiums (or possibly make the car un-insurable).
The car's structure will not have been designed and tested for the loads applied in an accident by an additional seatbelt - it may fail, causing increased injuries to all rear seat passengers.
In the case of the Amica, there is an additional problem compared to many larger 4-seat cars. It's Gross Vehicle Weight (the maximum allowable weight of car, passengers and luggage) is not very high, so an additional passenger may take the car's weight over the GVW, which the police would consider "unroadworthy".

You can put as many people as you like in your car, but it wont be leagle. hahaha.
Sorry but every1 has to wear a seatbelt. Your car holds 4 only and no extra seatbelts can be added :-((
A people carrier is the next sollution.

If you get it safety tested by a vehicle testing station. There will need to be strength added to the car. Its not so simple to add another belt. Theres crash tests to pass nowadays.
There is a reason its not got 5 belts fitted as standard

nope.. no seat belt , not legal. if you added one, you still run the risk of getting pulled over because the highway patrol do know how many are supposed to fit in different size cars.
