Because they find the concept that you could believe something so important to them doesn't exist unthinkable.

Why are christians convince they love god? The fact is that they have to pretend they're fighting against someone who thinks and stands for something just the opposite of them or the belief system falls apart.

This is the same reason there are so many denominations. If you succeed in making nearly everyone follow your religion who do you fight? They fight over the minute differences in their own belief system.

Oh but give them someone who doesn't believe in the fight itself and that can be spun into being the great evil the great enemy.

Honestly and sadly there can never be peace within religion. It's an impossibility in a system where for the system to survive there must be an enemy to fight.

I am an Atheist from France, Europe.

You know, it is already difficult for us to distinguish atheists from agnostics, anti-theists, especially when these people pretend to also be atheists.

For us, the concept of "god" has no meaning BUT for them it really has a meaning: they do believe that "god" doesn't exist. They hide behind that statement "well, noone can prove its existence or non-existence" bla bla bla.

And anti-theists need to "fight" with believers.

Well, Believers should know that real Atheists don't care about their believes insofar as no believer comes to try to "convert" them.

Real Atheists are not able to "hate" a meaningless concept (in their opinion).

Those who pretend to be atheists and who hate "god" ARE NOT ATHEISTS.

Its just ignorance. The ones that will actually get fired up enought to yell at you are the worst, 99.9% of the time they have no idea what they are talkign about their ignorance makes it impossible to have an educated conversation with them to discuss each persons point of view. I am not athesit but I find all aspects of religion interesting, the atheist side of it too. Its really fun to get the hard core bible beaters going on evolution!!! They think you are atheist if you dont believe in evoultion! Some really dumb people think that atheist worship the devel rather than God. (I am sad to say I have actually wasted my time with this arugment.)

I believe that a lot of Christians are made to believe that anyone of a different religion or belief are on the "wrong" path or not right with Jesus.

I on the other hand, believe in God and Jesus, but am open to other religions and accept the fact that people can have different beliefs and faiths and not be judge-mental.

In my experience the atheists don't hate God. They hate the people who worship God. It would be very silly indeed to hate something that you don't believe in.

The rational is that should I not believe in God, then I must hate Him, for no "rational" person would reject God, except out of anger and hatred.

Sure, it's a flawed argument. Now there are some atheists who have rejected God, while others merely reject the notion of God (or a god)

Christians sincerely don't believe that Atheists really don't believe in God. They believe there is such a thing as an "Agnostic," someone who doesn't care, but that creation and the order of the planets etc. speak to the existence of a creator, or a God.

If I was an Atheist, I would state that I believe in a higher power, since you can't have a creation without a creator, and that I didn't believe there was a God that we could have a personal relationship with us, or who always wants what's best for us.

Personally, I believe that God has written the 10 commandments on our heart - otherwise, how would we know it was wrong to steal ? Who came up with this idea, anyway ?

I believe someone that calls themselves an "Atheist" believes more in God than an Agnostic, but is fighting the concept of bowing the knee and humbling themselves.

Atheists don't believe God exists. How can you hate something you don't even believe exists?

Anyone who thinks Atheists hate God proves to be ignorant.

Not to be negative, but most Christians, like most followers of organized religions, follow what the leaders of their Church tell them too.

Atheists simply do not beleive in a god. If you do not beleive, how can you hate it?

This all feeds in to the rise of fundamentalism world wide, in ALL the major religions. It is a dangerous thing...

(btw - I am a Catholic.)

this is actually the second time that I had to correct someone today on the religion. Atheism is not towards the hate of the Christian g-d. It's the disblief that there is no higher power in existance...no matter what religion you belong to!

Hope you got that. ;D
