If you are a female, maybe you can have the opposite call and ask a few question or vice versa. Whatever you do, don't let them know that you are the job seeker. Good luck.

I work for a large recruiting firm so I am very familiar with this. This is meant to deter recruiting agencies from calling. A lot of recruiting agencies get leads off of these sites and they will call in to see if they can help the company staff these open positions for a fee. This company is just saying they do not want to use recruiting agencies at this time. If you are well qualified for a position that is open you should not have a problem if you call in. At the very least you will not be thrown out of contention for calling in. If you try once and the HR person tells you to e-mail and not call then do that. Keep in mind you don't have to give your name when you call. Just tell them that you were replying to an online ad about XYZ position and that you are very interested in hearing more about this opportunity. Don't give you name yet and see if they tell you to e-mail the resume or if they are willing to talk to you. If they tell you to e-mail your resume and that they do not take phone calls regarding the position, hang up. You never gave them your name so how can they hold it against you. If your resume does look good they should want to talk to you and it separates you from all the people that just electronically e-mail their resumes. Try to sell yourself if you get them on the phone and you will have a leg up on the competition.

90% of job postings on Craigslist seem to be fake. About the only real jobs are retail and restaurant jobs that list the company name in the ad. You are correct to ask for their street address, then drive by or look in the phone book to verify the company actually exists.

If you want to follow up on a job that lists no phonecalls, it would give you big black marks if you called anyway. Try emailing them for the follow up instead.

If you can't follow a simple directive before becoming employed, I as the employer would definately have second thoughts about hiring you.
Email or Fax your letter. Make it catchy and noticable ..Sell yourself ! Get an interview or second interview appointment. Good Luck

No it won't work. You have to email your resume to their computer like everyone else. If their computer algorithm decides you are a good match, the Hiring Manager will receive a notification and then call you.
Make sure your resume looks good, and pray, and send it to every ad on Craigslist.

yeah that's something that really gets me; every job search class you ever go to will tell you to call, but more and more companies these days are saying do not call, which i thinks is very rude. honestly i'm not sure it would change your chances either way, to call or not to call. if you really want it, and can actually find their phone number, then maybe, yeah, give it a try, but keep it light and casual. again, i don't think whether or not you get the job will be resting on that.

yes don't call, they don't have the man power to file a lot of calls, and yours may be the straw that broke the camels back.
But you drop by with a resume in hand and shake a few hands and smile a lot and see if you can get a appointment to see the HR person today!

You're supposed to respond to their email!
They just don't want every whack-job out there tying up their phone line!
Happy Holidays!

Write a follow up letter. In it, request that they contact you.
