WOW! Where did that come from? Tacky??? No, more like traditional.
I think there is nothing more wonderful than an engraved message or date and initials. I love my grandmother's ring because it has her and his initials and their wedding date in the prettiest scroll.
How can it be tacky? It's against your skin, not to be removed your whole life! no one sees it, only you and your beloved know it's there, unless you tell others. Plus it gives the ring an extra reason to be special to those who may treasure it when you're gone.
I simply love the idea of an inside joke or cute saying. I also love "mine" which someone said before me - cause I say that when I'm feeling tired or pouty and I want hugs or cuddles from my boyfriend.
I will probably just go with our initials and date cause that's what all the women in my family have done, but I am thinking about "mine" for his now... I love that idea!!!

In absolute honesty, I always thought inscriptions inside your wedding ring was a bit tacky, but I LOVE the idea of having something on it that is both personal and makes you smile. definitely go for it, if nothing else, it'll certainly keep future generations guessing!
Enjoy your big day x

I asked this question a while ago because I couldn't decide between something silly ("I love you more" because we play-fight about it all the time) and something sentimental (the dates of our first date, the day we got engaged, and our wedding day).
Overwhelmingly, everyone said to do the silly one - and I agree!
If it makes you smile when you think about it, it's worth having on your ring! So, now, when we get married, each of our rings is going to say "I Love You More" (and that way neither of us wins! lol)
good luck!

humorous is good, I am so tired of played out impersonal messages on the inside of bands,
I have it down to two picks:
the only epic you ever need, (its a World of Warcraft thing, he plays too much and I get on his case)
or
I would have waited a lifetime (because we have been separated for many years, but I would have waited for ages, if it meant that we could be together...)
as for what he'll pick for me, I don't know, it will be a surprise, I love surprises.

I agree with Prima, I think they are kind of tacky BUT the wedding band we bought for me already has the word LOVE in it - and the "O" is a diamond, so I like mine. We won't be getting his done though.
*Yes Batcat, I think it's tacky - it's my opinion which I am stating, certainly not pushing on you. Before I started on Yahoo Ask I had never heard of ingraving the inside of your ring - maybe it's something we don't do here??? Anyway, I do find it tacky (along with other archaic traditions), and a waste of money.

I didn't have it put on his wedding band (we didn't want to wait for them to be inscribed LOL), but I gave my husband a "promise ring" with the word "MINE" inscribed inside. Everyone, including the jewelry store, thought it was cute and funny. I'd do it on his wedding band, too, but I don't want him to take it off for a week ;-)

My husband I put something meaningful to us- but not jokey. I am not too crazy about inscriptions like "Put it back on"- it's a solemn vow you're taking, and the ring is a symbol of that vow- it's not a time for jokes.

It should be what makes sense to the two of you because it is between the two of you. Wouldn't make it too dirty, your kids will someday have those rings....
