I just ran my credit report and I have some negative items that were opened over 7 years ago. How do I get them removed?

You say they were OPENED over 7 years ago, but you don't say when they became negative items. Negative items can stay on for 7 years after date of last activity (ie last time you paid)

So for example if you had a credit card that you opened 20 years ago and then defaulted on in 2003 that negative information stays on until 2010.

Ace is really properly..... you've 2 timeframes to attend to. The credit reporting time is 7 years, from the date of the DELINQUENCY, no longer very last activy.. on the prompt any adverse products should be deleted out of your record. The Statute of obstacles is the legal time a creditor has to document a lawsuit to carry at the same time the debt. each and each state is diferant, yet averages round 6 years. they could nonetheless document a lawsuit, yet all you should do is communicate about the SOL has expired and the tournament receives brought to modern-day. the priority is that the sequence brokers can nonetheless contact you and harass you. they are relying on the actual undeniable actuality that you do not realize the above rights, and they'll threaten and harrass you into paying. All you should do is deliver them a "end and desist" letter which really say do not call or properly me ever back. in the adventure that they do, then you honestly have an exceedingly user-friendly small claims tournament that you're going to win $1000 with. once sequence agencies discover you you realize your rights you'd be surprised at how briskly they deliver the debt lower back to the creditor, or bypass it off to a distinct sequence corporation. study your rights, examine the straightforward Debt Collections Act and the straightforward credit Reporting Act.

Collections and charge-offs should automatically fall off seven years from the date of last delinquency.
BUT, keep in mind that judgments and liens will stay on indefinitely if they are not paid. Once you do pay them, they fall off seven years AFTER the date that the balance is satisfied.
And bankruptcies will not fall off until 10 years after the date of discharge.
If your "negative items" fall into the aforementioned categories, it's not quite time for them to come off.

If they are collections or charge-offs, dispute the accounts with the credit bureau that is reporting them.
I hope that helps!
