There are several pro illegal YA posters who keep bringing up the injustices done (and still being done ,i.e., reservations and no reparations) to Native Americans as a trope for them to condone illegal immigration in America. What do you think?

NO, America should not defer to the illegals. There is a path for immigrants to follow to be allowed in to the US and made citizens. It isn't the best way and does need revamped but it's there. If they can't follow the rules to get here, what makes anyone think they will respect them once they are here. Current immigration and the American Indian have nothing to do with each other. The Indians were a casualty of life two hundred years ago. Nobody in this century defeated them and put them on reservations. As far as our current immigration policy we need to redo it completely because even the legal immigrants are going to destroy our societal structure. Meaning our school systems, welfare system, social security, etc. We need to seal all of our borders for the time being. Until our infrastructure has caught up with our current population. Then when we reopen the borders we should have a much lower immigration allowance than we do currently so that we can maintain our infrastructure. Only one of my sources is listed below because I didn't have enough time to list them all.

No. Why? We didn't do it. If something illegal is being done TODAY to OUR American Indians and they
are not getting something that our government agreed upon ,then it is our duty to help and fight for what THEY are entitled to. Not to roll over and hand it to people comming here illegally because they want to ride the coat-tails of the American Indian. Seems their "white" hate has more to do with SPAIN invading their land. Not the Pilgrims. Take it to Spain and demand from them.

Wheres my reperations for being Irish and having my people be treated worse than slaves? I mean this is truely insane thinking. These people act like they were love and peace all through history...and never, ever ,ever, at ANY time in history treated any person, place or thing badly at all. Ever. In many cases, I sincerely doubt if they traced their family back, the majority couldn't even find a relative who stepped foot in America. People who probably didn't even know what America was. And now come here and cry victim based on any coat-tail and club they can remotely identify with. Please.

No, Americans should not defer to the wishes of illegals. And I don't see how the current problem of illegal immigration connects to what happened with Native Americans. Illegal immigrants claim to respect American law, but their very presence here violates the law. They are an impediment to everyone seeking legal entry into America. Most Americans want our borders and the rule of law enforced. If illegal immigrants really respected this country, they would enter into it legally, not sneak across the borders and then demand rights. That's not the way the world should work. I can understand everyone wants a better life, and many would like to seek it in America. What makes America great is that we are a diverse nation of immigrants that all share that dream. However we all have to respect the rule of law and play by the rules, because that's how we became great. But open borders represents a big social problem and a big security issue, and our borders should be strongly enforced.

The majority of the ancient North and South American civilizations, that have been wiped out, were destroyed by other Native American civilizations.

So conquering the natives of these continents did not make the Europeans as different from many of the native civilizations as the constant whiners would have you believe.

The current civilization, south of Canada and North of Mexico, allows more legal immigration than any other country in the world. No other country is close.

Why is there no whining about all the other country's immigration policies in this forum?

No, the Spaniards also caused many injustices as well, and most illegals are the decedents of the Spaniard as well, so that argument is bogus. If you purchased a washing machine from Sears, and it was dented, you wouldn't demand that Macy replace it

I have seen pro-illegals try to ally themselves with all kinds of people. They don't seem to care to much about it, they will try to find a way to join up with a group of people who faced hardship and compare themselves with those people. In the beginning here they were comparing illegal aliens to Rosa Parks. Pretty funny actually. At the end of the day you will find that mexican atrocities towards "native Americans" were numerous and potent. The answer is no.

I think that we can not change history, only learn from it and not repeat it. It is not as simple as some people make it out to be... completely innocent Native Americans being violently purged by Europeans. There were some gray areas mixed in, and people forget that the mindset we have today is not the same as it was 300-400 years ago.

That being said, I really think that bygones need to be bygones, and that we recognize governments and countries as they stand today. If people want to drudge up the past, then should we ban British immigrants because some of their ancestors taxed the heck out of and fought against some of the colonists? Should we ban Germans because of WWI & WWII? Seriously, it gets to the point that you have to leave the past in the past.

Hell NO!

We as a nation have the rights and ability to monitor and police our borders. We decide immigration, not some immigrants who's first act upon entering the country is disregard our nation's laws.

The golden rule, you get what you give. Disrespect the laws, and the law disrespects you.

It is comparing apples and oranges. The injustices perpetrated on the Native Americans are numerous and created a cycle of poverty that exists to this day. Deferring to the wishes of illegals to soothe our conscience about Native Americans is not justified. However, that does not mean that illegals should just be shuffled off to jail or deported. For the most part illegals continue to exist in large numbers because Americans exploit their labors. They do jobs for low pay that citizens would eschew for twice the income. We have created a market for that kind of labor and the illegals fill that need. What we need is an immigration policy that opens up the borders to law abiding citizens who want to come here to offer a better life to their families. There should be a path towards citizenship established with requirements for learning English, and paying taxes. Right now they become victims of unscrupulous employers who know that illegals cannot complain about wages and conditions. That does not have anything to do with Native Americans and what we did to them.
