well, I have donated my time to a number of good causes, thanks for asking...
what has "praying" done? waht has "gawd" done? either he's not all powerful, doesn't give a rat's a**, or doesn't exist...get over it, either do something to help the situation or SHUT UP..
just as a side note, your use of words makes you appear ignorant, whether this is the case or not, you might be better off using words that are acceptable in the english language...

It isn't that ain't is not a word, it's just that it's a colloquial contraction of 'am not' which doesn't fit in any part of your question. Have a look at how Old Scratch has used it, that's correct.
Jack Justice, with all due respect that's a load of bullshit. Firstly "if there is no God, human dignity is absent" is a fairly bizarre claim, and you appear to make no attempt to justify it.
Secondly you suggest that we shouldn't want to help the poor because if they starve it will reduce the burden on society. You fail to take into account that in our society someone who's starving is likely to begin suffering from malnutrition, check in to an emergency room and have their treatment paid for by our taxes. Of course in third world countries people are allowed to starve, but that doesn't affect the burden of the rich Western societies that most of us here live in.
You then assert that our desires and dreams are all selfish, which is of course false. And you claim that maximising pleasure is a "very sad [way] to live" which is self-contradictory.

i do not precisely have a faith, nor do i comprehend if i position self belief in a God or no longer.... the reason i do not, is because it would not somewhat make experience to me to have a larger skill. As in, if there change right into a God...who created him, and who created him, etc. Plus, the actual undeniable actuality that the bible is a zillion years previous, and there is abosolutely no data about what's written in it will be genuine. the individuals who position self belief in a God...i have self belief that they could by some ability wish, and hence, imagine, that there is one accessible, because in the adventure that they lost a loved one...then that could want to point that the loved one isn't lost perpetually. And the actual undeniable actuality that they wanna have self belief that there is an afterlife, and that this entire existence isn't the end. i do not have self belief because i might want to like to imagine that this existence isn't only a attempt, and that i do not ought to attend to the passing or failing area. although, I wan to have self belief because i imagine that there must be some thing better than this existence. Than this position. I wanna have self belief to carry close that there is a few thing or someone accessible who can help, yet i do not no longer somewhat. I grew up in an particularly Christian domicile, that could connect my beliefs too. i change into compelled to bypass to church, and that i change into continuously appeared down on with the aid of way i presumed. My relations really disowned me after that...

One of the things I have learned hanging out in this forum is that there are apparently two "sects" of atheism, with little in common except a total lack of belief in supernatural gods.
There are those I call philosophical atheists, whose atheism stems from the knowledge that Christians have utterly failed to prove their own assertion that God exists. This, of course, makes their assertion logically false. (Proving God does not exist is neither possible nor necessary.) Philosophical atheists are generally disgusted by the bloody history of organized religion within human civilization and tend to think of their atheism in political terms.
Then there are the scientific atheists. These atheists know that all of Western Civilization (including Christianity) began based on the false premise of Solipsism -- Aristotle's erroneous idea that subjective mental experiences form the basis of reality. Solipsists also believed that the physical realm was the imaginary creation of the human mind and didn't really exist. Solipsism dominated Western Civilization for almost two thousand years -- until Galileo (1590 CE) realized that most of Aristotle's "wisdom" could be easily disproved with simple physical experinments. This was the beginning of science, which led directly to Newton using mathematics to essentially prove that the physical realm is objectively real. Science changed everything, because it allowed the human species to discover the factual truth for itself, rather than relying on superstitious belief. Virtually every object which is part of modern life was made possible because science has proved that only the physical realm is objectively real.
Like the vast majority of Protestant fundamentalists, you fail to discriminate between philosophical atheists and scientific atheists. Most of your ilk erroneously imagine that atheism and science are virtually synonymous, as is clearly illustrated by your question. Why aren't we out there solving the problems of the world? If you weren't such an ignorant bigot, you'd realize we already have. Virtually every physical object in your life, including most of the food on your table, was ultimately made possible because of the tremendous progress made by science in the last few hundred years. We scientists have done our part and helped shape a civilization which is able to feed and house far more people than would be possible without science. People who can think rationally about reality have created the modern infrastructure which supports us all. Scientists have made food cheap and plentiful. Why haven't Christians discovered a way to insure that no one goes hungry? If you check the Bureau of Prisons statistics you'll discover that atheists are the most law-abiding of all US citizens and that Christians, both in total numbers and per capita commit far more murders than any other demographic group. It already actually is better to be an atheist, which you'd appreciate if you'd just check the facts.
Even though I am an unrepentant atheist, I have enough religious sensitivity to appreciate that sarcastically saying, "God bless," when your heart is filled with hatred is both blasphemous and hypocritical.

well, delusional religious people outnumber atheists and agnostics by huge numbers and since much of the corruption and violence in the world is being created by religious zealots it's like trying to empty the sea with a thimble if you're trying to stop the mindless destruction.
sheesh! Fundies don't even have a respect for basic science. global warming is creating more and more starvation and misery but we got a "Christian" presnit who refuses to acknowledge what the world's scientific community warns as catastrophic. he and his enablers don't want to hurt the mega corporations bottom line by putting restrictions on how much toxic waste they pump into Earth's soil , air and water. and besides, the end of the world is nigh so why bother cleaning it up?
PS. i donate time and money to Eco causes because i figure there's no point in feeding starving babies if they're just gonna grow up to inherit a planet that's being used as a toxic waste dump.

Who said we are not feeding the poor or trying to stop murder? Atheists are a minority all over the world. So believers actually have much more of an impact that we do. So if you want to blame anyone for all the crime and problems, you should blame yourself.
I see these turmoils as a hard problem to fix so I blame no one. I accept that they do exists and try to find ways to help. (giving to charities and not committing murder for example0

How do you know that I'm not? May be I'm not feeding the poor, but I'm involved in community services that make sure that the poor can feed them self. How am I supposed to stop a murder that a person commits in the name of your God?

We are feeding the poor, you don't have to be religious to help people. And that's where you go wrong. There is no way to stop murder. As for what we've done, look at science for your evidence.

uhm its very annoying and bad grammar to say "aint" alot i mean seriously, THRE ARE OTHER WORDS.
1) some people do, but poor people bring it on themselves, we have our own lives to lead.
2) Stopping murder? the police to do, we're just normal people. You expect to much
3) why is it better? who said anything about being better or worse? Its a choice.
4) solving the problems of the worlds omg, WERE NORMAL PEOPLE NOT SCIENTISTS!
Does that answer your questions?
