if you're making from scratch...remember to squeeze the water out in cheese cloth or a dish towel...or they'll never brown!!!

Make sure the pan is HOT enough...Don't mess with them once they are in the pan... Let them sit until the potatoes get nice crispy OR you can use a deep fryer and make hash browns... Like McDonalds...

a hot pan, lots of butter...add pepper and salt ,fry for about 3-5 min turn them over and you have great crispy hash browns..i add shredded cheese on top of mine ...yummy....bluedot

Plenty of oil (bacon grease is even better) in a hot pan or on a hot griddle. Do not stir them. Turn them like you would a pancake instead. Thoroughly brown one side before turning them to the other.
