I think everyone should be re-tested once they reach a certain age. Lets face it you get older and your vision, hearing and reaction time are not what they used to be. I have nothing against older people driving, but I think a lot of accidents can be prevented if people are re-retested every so many years.

The problem is not with old people's driving. The real menace is the 18-25 set. The problem with old people is that they are belligerent and they are liars. They will drive into a bank lobby or into a pool or through a crowded bus stop and claim the gas pedal stuck. They will tell, retell, and live this lie until the day they die. They may even come to believe it themself. They will refuse to stop for cops because they insist they have done nothing wrong, even if they have. I have seen them hit other parked cars (mine, while I was in it) and refuse to even acknowledge it, let alone apologize. They will not admit fault under any circumstances. I have seen all this behavior so, so many times.

It's not the oldies who make mistakes but the driver of any age who is over-confident and drives like a maniac. Many older drivers hold Institute of Advanced Motorist qualifications and drive like experts. The oldies think when they are driving and certain people claim it is because of age they may drive a little slower when in fact they have greater intelligence and experience gained over many years. Most older people know when it is time to retire from behind the wheel and do not need government legislation to force it upon them.

i think if you research your question you will find that some younger drivers, are involved in the majority of fatal accidents due to speed and an unhealthy devil may care attitude shall we say. almost bordering on knowallism. the elderly driver is usually not going fast enough to kill you.
