They won't leave! I found the fleas 2 weeks ago, used a flea comb and drowned them in soapy water, then applied Advantage and used IGR spray all over. Later, I washed bedding, towels, etc. and vacuumed like crazy (couches, rugs...). Now, I just found some adult fleas on him! This time he has hardly any of the "flea dirt" that I found before - so it seems much milder - but I'm afraid I can't get rid of them. He's always been an indoor cat, too!

Can I reapply Advantage only 2 weeks later? It was the right dose for his size last time and I used the whole tube. Also, is it possible that giving him a flea bath with BioSpot just one day after the Advantage lessened its effectiveness? (I was being neurotic and wanted to bathe him in case. Boy, did he hate it!) And should I have used a bomb instead of just the spray? I tried to be really thorough with the spray but could have missed something.

Any advice or help would be great. My kitty is my baby and I hate to see him scratching. Thanks!

You can apply Advantage two weeks later. You also need to give it time to work. You will still find fleas because they are hatching in the house. They have to get on the cat and bite the cat to die. You need to treat with the Advantage for 3-4 months to make sure all the fleas are gone!!
No more bathing or applying ANY other flea products!!!! You do not need to spray or bomb either. That stuff is toxic!!!

Why on earth would you put Advantage on and then bath him with flea shampoo the next day? This is overdosing the cat with flea meds - especially using off the shelf harsh garbage like BioSpot! I'm surprised your cat is still alive.

NO you can not apply Advantage two weeks later. If the fleas were really bad in your home you should have flea bombed it or put 20 Mule Team Borax down on the carpets. I highly doubt you covered every square inch of your carpet with flea spray. And most likely the stuff you used wasn't even effective.

Yes the bath is what did it. I have used advantage since it came out and never have a problem with fleas. You are also using way to many chemicals. You are going to poison your pet. Stick with 1 flea control system. My advise is watch closely for fleas and reapply advantage in 2 weeks. Or what ever you plan to use I'd wait another 2 weeks.

The flea bath almost certainly washed off the Advantage - that was too soon for a bath. Advantage is water based and will wash off if you bathe too soon. Still, it is too soon to reapply safely.

Go to your vet and get a pill called Capstar which will do a quick one-time kill of any remaining fleas. Clean house again like before and reapply Advantage in two weeks and no baths for at least 48-72 hours after.

Flea bombs are terribly toxic and not all that effective. If you get to that, use a professional instead. Less toxic and more effective.

It takes awhile for the medicine to fully work, it can't just kill all the fleas at once. Advantage works by attracting fleas to your cat and then they die once exposed to the medication. If you found them on your cat, they are probably from what is left in your home. Wait until the month is up then reapply the advantage.

Also you don't need to bath him once you apply the flea spot on, it will work on its own. Exposing them to too much IGR spray can be fatal to your pet.

make sure you are reading the direstions correctly. be careful not to overdose, and only follow direstions, if it says to apply once a month, then do so, dont apply the medication before that time period. well i use Frontline Plus, and it works great!! you only apply it once every 3 months. so if you get a 3 supply, it lasts for 9 months. i have been using it on my cats and dogs, for about 2 years now. and they have not had fleas since. you may have a flea infestation going on in your house. you can try using the "bomb" also known as a fogger, maybe you should get like 3, place them in differant rooms of the house, open all bedroom doors, keep windows closed, and make sure you and your pets are NOT in the house when you are doing this!!! it can be toxic, if animals are left in the house, so make sure you get them out of the house before useing a fogger. the foggers kill ants, fleas, spiders, etc. good luck. talk to your vet if you have any problems, and if a medication isnt working. i recommend the frontline plus!

Yes it's possible the flea bath lessened the effect of the Advantage, you should really wait at least 48 hours after applying a spot-on before bathing. I wouldn't bother bathing to get rid of fleas at all, it isn't helpful.

Yes. You may apply Advantage again. In addition to vacuuming your home, use a flea kill solution that kills fleas and their larvae on your carpet. The fleas that were in your home previously had time to produce larvae and that is why you continue to see them on your cat. You might want to also consider boarding your pet for a few days and fumigating your home for the well being of you and your pet.
