lmfao. Yes, Peter, it is indeed anti-atheist. That's one way of putting it.

I have not seen it, and am cautious of "knee jerk" reactions to cautions put out from various sources. My research regarding this movie would indicate that it is one to be avoided.
Movie "The Golden Compass"
St Pauls Hebron
Dec 6, 2007
Be alert! A new movie, The Golden Compass, is set to be released on Dec. 7, 2007 throughout the US and translated into 32 different languages as well. The movie is based on a trilogy, His Dark Materials. The author, Phillip Pullman has said in an interview that this trilogy concentrates upon this theme "I Want to kill God in the minds of Children... I want them to decide against God and the Kingdom of Heaven" quote from Phillip Pullman. The Golden Compass, a sanitized version of the book, wants to have children and young people rebel against parents, teachers, the Church, and anyone in authority.

The Golden Compass is an atheist movie. It comes from writings of a guy who wants to refute C.S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia"
And yes, there has been lots of discussion of it on here.

The author is the books has stated that his books are written in response to the writings of CS Lewis in the Chronicles of Naria, and are anti-Christian (which is why they misquote and twist Bible verses) and specifically anto-Catholic. He hopes that they will server as "a doorway to atheism" for the children who read them.
That would not appear to support the idea that the Golden Compass will be a pro-Christian movie.

Why can't a movie or a book just be entertainment? Why does everything have to have a hidden meaning? Was the movie "We Were Soldiers" just a war movie or was it something else as well? Try watching a movie or reading a book simply for the entertainment value it offers or the adventure or the sex. You'll be a lot happier if you use entertainment media for entertainment's sake.

If it's anti-anything I would rather people be correct and say it's more anti-organized religion... However, the subject matter is fictitious and probably even more watered down in the movie than the books, even.

It is not, instead it contains ideas against organized religion. the author of the novel on which the film is based was quoted as saying that he is "trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief."
