Not in India, they wear white and shave their heads (if male) out of respect for the deceased. The last funeral I attended, I wore neither white, nor black, but BLUE! I've always liked funerals, as they are even better places to crash than weddings to pick up chicks, albeit a bit unethical! I rather enjoy the color black myself, like Johnny Cash, the "Man in Black", and oppose this usage of this wondrous color solely for funerals. My life would be best described as "Ma Vie En Noir(e)"[My life in black] and not "Ma Vie En Rose". [My life in pink!]

I don't want to sound racist when I say this but it's true...Again I don't intend on speaking matters of racism when i say that black is the color representing death when other colors represent life especially white...if you watch movies wiith angels and demons...demons would be robed in black while angels robed in white...i'm not trying to be a racist here again...

it's been used to signify death for centuries bc of it's lack of color. black is actually not a color, it is the absence of color. mourning and death are associated with black.
