I'm a fairly serious weightlifter and all I want for christmas is that veign that runs the length of my bicep to be more visible. (jk I know it will take longer than that)

Does it appear with a larger/stronger bicep or is it just a matter of your body fat % that lets these show through?

Is it a proportion of both, if so what ratio do you think it is?

As stated above, body fat certainly has a large part to play. That you can control some.

But, I agree, it's mainly how you're made/built. Certain people's veins are just more muscular/thick naturally. Mine are, but I'm no bodybuilder. I've always had 'em like that since about 14y.o. They give the lab techs & nurses nuts when they need to do a blood draw. They have to shove the needle so hard to get through they often "blow out" through the other side.

I had knee surgery in Oct. and the nurse blew it 4 times. The anesthesiologist got frustrated with her, numbed it up with novacaine and did it himself to "show her how it's done."

Took him 2 tries, also. :)

Good luck with your bodybuilding!

yes less body fat will help it show through, sometimes it's just how you are made. I have big arms and low body fat and yes they are there but not to the extent of others I have seen as well.
