I am looking at making up some sandwiches and freezing them but unsure what i can freeze and can't freeze, I have looked around on the web and seen some ideas, I know you can freeze cheese sandwiches, but some people say about doing boiled eggs and mayo. but some also say that you cannot freeze boiled eggs or mayonaise as the mayonaise seperates. I also know you cannot freeze salad stuff and some veg either. People have also suggested freezing cooked meats but I was under the presumption that you cannot do this as it can cause food poisoning? Has anyone tried freezing sandwiches and if so what recipies have you used?

Before my road trips I would freeze a few sandwiches and they always turned out fine. First use a sturdy bread or roll such as sour dough, french bread, or bagels. Then fill with various meats & cheeses. You can add mustard too. Do not put mayo, pickles, or veggies on them. Do this after taking from the freezer. I place mine in those zip lock baggies and then in a small cooler with an ice pack, not regular ice. Done. The sandwiches will keep for a few hours and taste fresh. I also bake chicken tenders and freeze those too for my trips. Thick crust cheese, sausage, and pepperoni pizza freeze & travel well too. I add extra spices to help "punch up" the taste. Good luck

Freezing Sandwiches

This is a tricky one.........you're so right about the mayo separating upon thawing.....the problem with freezing certain things just doesn't work, unless it's going to be eaten in the frozen state......Take for example a basic BLT.......upon thawing it, the lettuce will be ruined by wilting, the tomato will turn to an unpleasant mush and the bread and mayo will also be mushy.......Refrigerating sandwiches or having the sandwich components in storage containers is a better and more practical idea......While some things freeze beautifully and for a long duration, sandwiches aren't one of them......cooked meats, BTW can be successfully frozen if allowed to defrost in the refrigerator prior to their use.......Enjoy!!

I have never frozen sandwiches- but I would think anything along the lines of Hot Pockets and Lean Cuisuine Paninis would freeze ok. There's no type of salad or lettuce- items are beef, chicken, turkey, cheese, broccoli, sauteed mushrooms, bell peppers, onions. I would think you could brown and add a little butter to the bread. I wouldn't add any mayo. Mustard should be fine.
