Sorry - I don't find crab legs all that romantic. Difficult to handle, butter all over your fingers, hands and face. Smelly hands. You'd have to really scrub, shower and brush - and by then the mood is gone.
Even steak is a 'heavy' meal. Too much food and the digestion overwhelms the "passion system" - just want to sleep.
Try light foods. White wine, fruits. Warm French bread. Chocolates.Romance is better on an empty stomach, then a nice meal "afterward".

My hubby and I consider crab legs to be a very romantic meal, and the fun is in the mess, and we think that's romantic. I make a garlic lemon butter, veal piccata, asparagus with hollandaise, and get a nice French or Italian loaf of bread. (I'd say a salad too, but we just want to get to the good stuff!) The bread is the appetizer with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and then it can be used to mop up the butter and holladaise and piccata sauce. YUM! Then of course, the "dessert" course. *wink*

My wife would tell you about one night. She wasn't feeling all that great. I sat her in the recliner and cooked the crab and heated up some butter. I sat there and cracked crab legs and fed the both of us. Didn't need anything else that night. A small camp stove to cook the steaks and reheat/heat the butter might be nice. You could do shish-kabobs so that you could both talk and cook together. A thermos of some spiced hot cider or coffee or soup. You did say it would be cold.

yes- asparagus- add some whole mushrooms (sprinkle bacon bits and crushed croutons). Cut off a coupe chunks of butter, wrap in aluminum and bake till done adn move them to a nice serving dish. while that's cooking make a bernaise sauce (there's packets if you can't do the real thing) to drizzle over the top when their done. I'd cube cut the potatoes, toss them in a bag of seasoned salt and bake them. I'd love garlic except... if you want to be romantic.... maybe garlic should wait for another day for that? now I'm hungry.

My grandmother always said to look at colors when deciding sides! Do not put two colors togather as in green beans and brussel sprouts, the meal would clash in taste. Try it. Always make the plate colorful, thats how well the food will taste!!

Well the first thing you want to do is resort to any food he particularly loves. Nothing makes a guy happier than when you tell him "..and your favorite ______________" If you are looking to get some romance in, strawberries and sugar are always a nice touch. It is something you can feed him as he rests his head on your lap.
