When are people going to learn there is no such thing as a BEST BREED? Best implies that everything else is below that.
If you like Pit Bulls or Staffordshire Bull Terriers I'm sure my saying the German Shepherd was better would upset you!
I've had many different breeds and in my work meet lots of dogs and in 50+ years can honestly say I've never met a perfect dog, I've never met one I didn't like either!
My boss now couldn't cope with a Shepherd and has a fear of them in general though he loves my dog. I love his Pomeranian but would never choose that breed for myself! It's not best breed it's right breed for owner!
I've also heard people say that once you have a 'insert breed of choice' you'll never have another but to me that is silly, there will come a day when having a Shepherd would be too much for me, I'd hate to think I couldn't find another dog to love just as much!!
Border Collies are a fantastic dog, I just couldn't give one the attention and exercise I know they need!

Having had a range of dogs from a Yorkshire Terrier to a St Bernard, I have to say they're all the "best" as any dog owner/lover would, I think, agree. I currently have an 8 week old Great Dane at the moment and she's the "best" too!!!
However, MY preference is a larger dog. All dogs are excellent companions and as long as they're treat well will be loyal family members!!!

i think that the best breed of dog is the Australian Sheperd. They are very protective of their owners and they are very sweet. We have both male and female and they are totally different. Our female is a miniture Australian Sheperd and she is very hiper and growls whenever another dog gets in between me and her and she barks a lot. Our Male Austaline sheperd is the most layed back dog that you will ever get and he hardly ever barks and when he does he has the deepest bark. We also have a mutt and he has been the best dog for as long as we have had him (9 years). He is a black lab, golden retriever, and huskey mix. Anyway, the best of luck to you on finding a dog that you want and i hope i helped.

That s up to you. Every dog are nice as long as you breed them properly.
I personly like chihuahuas because:
-They are smart
- They are energetic- I often go for a two-hour walk with mine.
-They are nicer than what people think
-They feel good anywhere even in small apartement
- They don t smell
- They eat few
-They are stronger than what people think
- You can travel with them no problem. You can even stay in hotels where dogs are not allowed.
Too bad there s some much prejudice against them.

It really depends on what sort of person you are and what your home life is like. I have a border collie and a cross-breed terrier and personally I love the collie. She is so fun, friendly and energetic. I also think Chow Chows are really cute. But those hairless ones?? Yuk!! =]

I'm going to be totally biased and say British Bulldogs are the best dogs!! I have two... They are fantastic pets... They love attention, love kids and very loyal!!! They may look abit scary but they are so soft... Ive known lots of dogs and these are by far the loveliest!! You want a dog that has alot of character and also one that you dont see everyday!!! Who wants to be the same?? British Bulldogs all the way!!!

All depends on the person and what type of setting the dog will be in. I personally love labs and I think that mixed breeds are more healthy and easier to train than purebreds

I like all dogs, but Pit Bulls. I LOVE PITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They rock, best family dog i have had, i've been bit by a Golden Retriever and a Lab, but i still like them. Pit Bulls do need our love not our hate. if they are succesful banning Pit Bulls they will just move onto another breed, then another, and another, until all dogs are banned and dead. Help the Pit, and help ALL DOGS.

German Shepherd Dog - just the best all-round dog ever bred.
Closely followed by the Akita - which is definitely not the breed for everyone.
