Well, your eyes are an opening to your heart. You decide weather you let what you see corrupt you or not. This makes me think of the the Chinese water torture. One little drop of water can it do any damage? not really, the real question is how long before it does, because it will.
So, I believe just about anything becomes linked in memory or imagination with a thing or person (associated) and has an input in what you become; either you reject it or confom to it and sometimes that line can become fuzzy if you do not "watch" what you watch.

This is a great question. One that troubles me from time to time, too. I love great comedies and action/adventures, but they rarely come without profanity and nudity, or violence and blood. I would just say pick your shows/movies wisely. If you mind lingers on nasty images, avoid them. If you like a good comedy, just don't walk away from the movie adopting that language as your own. I'm not a TV watcher but movies I love. So I check out the user comments on iMDB before renting to find out what I'm getting into. As far as associating with the cahracters, I would say no. We are watching a story unfold. That's what I do anyway. Hope that helps.

I am very sure, during the days the Scriptures were written there were no movies, but there were lots of shows. I think, it may not be wrong to watch the movie, as it is just notional. So the scripture warning is only on watching a live show man.

Yes, "entertainment" can be a form of association. We have seen over the years what effect violent shows, video games, etc. have on our youth. I agree with Prov. 13:20 and
1 Cor. 15:33.
Ps. 97:10 "O YOU lovers of Jehovah, hate what is bad."

only if you are impressionable and have no real role models. it's like the video game fanatics - they can't talk about life only what characters did in the games. or tv show addicts like desparate housewives, american idol, soaps/novelas etc. they seem to live vicariously through the lives of imaginary people.
and let's not get started with the amount of time that some people dedicate to video games, tv, etc. all that time could be used for actually living a life...
yep. those scriptures apply...

Many are convinced that wrong is wright because of the actions of movie stars in real life. Not just on the screen. We need to focus on what God says is right.

Yes. Our association isn't just the people we talk to; it's our entertainment as well. Whatever you watch on tv or read in a book, etc, it is like inviting that person into your home.

Well, I never thought of it that way....
But I have felt dumber after watching a Jim Carrey movie. After I watched Winona Ryder in Reality Bites, I wanted to drop out of college and blame my parents for everything. But then again I never felt like doing drugs, or whacking someone after watching a Quentin Tarantino(sp.?) movie

Well.....since you don't actually hang out with the people in fictional movies and any sane person knows fiction from reality, I would say that it is impossible to associate with a character.
I have not changed my values or personality from watching ANY movie...I have a brain and free will. Thanks.
I guess since I saw Forrest Gump, that makes me developmentally delayed now? Or since I saw Armageddon, I have a burning desire to destroy asteroids? This kind of thinking is ridiculous!

I grew up in church and No I don't believe that watching things like the Simpons and rated R moves means that you are associating with the characters.
In order to associate with someone you have to physically spend time with them. or talk to them on a semi regualr basis. .. You can not talk to the characters on a tv show or movie.
