I am not able to get to the salon and was wondering if there is something I can use to brighten up my hair color and lift my drab roots a little. My hair is dark blonde with some highlights on top. I dont want to change my color at all, just lift it a little. Any ideas?

you should try a very cheap brand of BLONDE dye and leave it in for a very short time (like maybe 10-15 mins) that should help brighten the colors...and not just the roots but for all if like
let me know how that goes

Highlights--touch up the highlights. My advice is get to the salon, but only if you trust the beautician. Highlights should be subtle--unless you're doing red or blue or something to make a statement (of oddness)--and many colorists don't understand and overdo it. I find the sponge applicators best for do it yourself(or trusted friend). Again subtlety, small strands.

Chamomile. and Lemon.
Also at really any stores there is this stuff called "Sun in" you leave it in your hair and let your hair sit out in the sun. it brightens it.
