He is almost 8 years older than me, is that a problem? I'm still in school and he is working. Do you think if we dated our ages would be an issue

It all depends on how old you both are. If you are 14 and he's 22 it'll be a problem as he will have lived and experienced life for 8 years more than you and from teens to 20s that is an awfully long time. He'll be wanting sex pretty quick and maybe to settle down which would be very unfair on you apart from it's being illegal. Sadly, apart from the initial excitement you will become boring to him because you won't have much to talk about other than school and 14-year-old interests because you don't know about anything else. That's not a crime, but he's already been there, done that. Just you imagine going out with someone 8 years younger than you. Bit of a turn-off isn't it. I think he must act young for his age to be able to attract you. If that's the case, he's immature and you will quickly outgrow him and he'll become boring to you. The older you both are, the easier it becomes and the more the age-gap disappears. After about age 25, being with a partner much older would be absolutely no problem because you'd both be adults and understanding of eachother. I think, though, if you are aged between 13 and 16, you should forget the dates and keep it platonic. He's almost an adult and you are only just emerging from childhood. Not a recipe for success. When you are older, you could possibly become romantically involved with him and be very happy together. I think if you date him now it will all end in tears.....yours!

Nope! I've been with someone 18 years older than myself for four years, and we're getting married next summer. In fact, I personally know a couple that is 30 years apart in age and have been happily married for 13 years.

If you are under 18 and he is 8 years older than you yes it is a big problem. It is illegal. Wait ti you are 18 and then pursue your relationship. Once you are of age, it is not a big deal. My bf is 7 years older than me, and we get along great. Him being older makes his maturity level match mine. Boys are more immature then girls, so sometimes it helps them to be older so they can be more mature.

If you are under 18 then yes age is a big deal, because it is illegal, but if you are over 18, then it will depend on you and your situation. If you and the guy get along great then I (personally) don't see what the probelm could be.

It depends on your ages. If you are 16 and he is 24, then yes it's a big deal. If you are 23 and he's 31, then it isn't.

Only if you want it to be. If by still in school you mean college then no it's not an issue, if still in school you mean high school then yeah, it's a huge issue... I meet my husband who is 13 years older than me when I was in college. He encouraged me and emotionally supported me...

It depends. How old are you? What year of school are you in? While the situation would be difficult, it could work out. My boyfriend's parents are eight years apart.

Not if he respects you and your are mature enough to be in a relationship with him. My ex was 15yrs older than me & no one in our families had a problem with it. Even my 3 kids got along with him great. Go for it!!
